Frequently Asked Questions

  • I am so excited to meet with you and am pleased with the flexibility that virtual mental health sessions offer. While I am not currently offering in-person services, I do offer HIPPA compliant therapeutic services. Happily, many studies have shown that telemental health delivers the same results as in-person visits in terms of patient satisfaction and adherence to treatment plans.

  • Typically, therapy sessions last for 50 minutes.

  • The first session will look a little different than subsequent sessions. During our first meeting, I will be getting to know you as a client - your background, strengths, passions, hopes, and challenges.

    We’ll also discuss creating a care plan that feels right for your needs and goals.

    After the first session, we will spend our time focusing on the goals and challenges you have identified. These sessions will be co-designed, and we will check-in regularly about how you think the sessions are going.

  • Sessions are scheduled at a frequency to be determined by the therapist and the client(s). Many clients prefer to set a schedule of weekly or bi-weekly appointments that consistently fit into the flow of their lives. Having a regular session day and time not only helps you keep your appointments (and keep making progress toward your goals), it makes setting aside time and attention to care for your mental health and wellbeing an integral, habitual part of your life. Like yoga, writing, or playing an instrument, tending to our mental wellness and growth is all about regular, focused practice.

    As you meet your goals, we may decide to begin a step-down process in which we meet less often. While we will eventually "end" services, it does not mean that our therapeutic relationship has to end entirely. Instead, therapy becomes about maintenance. Stressors will arise throughout our lives, whenever you feel like you need some extra support, we can schedule additional sessions. beneficial for sustained amounts of time as stressors arise in our lives.

  • Before we meet for the first time, you will need to fill out some paperwork.

  • Individual 50-minute sessions cost $130. Longer or couple’s sessions cost additionally. See my services page for all service rates. I accept payments from debit, credit, and HSA cards.

  • I wish I could say yes, the reality is that you will likely be discussing some unpleasant aspects of your life during each session and you may not feel better at the end of every session. It is not uncommon to experience some intense feelings during our time together, either due to remembering the past or facing a revelation. The good news is that feeling is normal and doesn’t last forever. It is the beginning of a journey toward feeling better. Our work will be to help you to cope with and eventually overcome the discomfort.

  • I am currently an out-of-network provider for all major insurance providers. While I don’t process payments through healthcare insurers, I’m happy to provide you with paperwork to submit to your insurance provider. While I cannot guarantee it, your insurance provider may reimburse you for qualifying services. Please check with your provider regarding any benefits for outpatient mental health services so that you may maximize your coverage.

  • Please send me an email as soon as you are aware that you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment.

    Cancellations less than 24 hrs before appointment are subject to a $125 cancellation fee.
